Finding our groove

With Sam having a settled time over the past 40 hours or so, we've managed to find a bit of a groove which is helping us feel like we have the logistic part of our lives back just a little bit.

Katie is now religiously expressing every 3 hours and this has got into sync with Ollie's sleeps. That itself allows us to plan our time with Sam and get as much as we can in.

A typical hospital visit is the following;

1. Check in with Sam, Ollie says hi, blows a kiss and gets down to some drawing
2. Exactly 189 seconds later Ollie has had enough so Mummy stays with Sam, Daddy finds ways to entertain Ollie
3. Visit GiGi (great grandmother) in opposite ward to say hi. 56 secs later Daddy looks for new way of entertaining Ollie
4. Daddy takes Ollie for ride on elevator. 2 trips later we are looking for distraction number 4
5. Visit the fairy garden. This is the best thing that has ever been established by volunteers in the history of volunteers. It's a beautiful little space between wards J1 and K1 and is a beautiful little garden with hidden paths, fairies, gnomes, wishing wells and more. It has saved our bacon plenty of times. 12 minutes later ( yes a whole 12 minutes) we start looking for something else.
6. Visit Ronald McDonald Family room to play with cars and have a drink. 132 seconds later it's up to the Starlight room to draw, watch movies, sing songs and play with other kids

After 20mins we repeat steps 1 to 6.

Sam is doing really well today. He is now breathing straight air which is great. This might change, but for now it's a good thing; remember 1 forward, 2 back.

He's going to have his first feed of Mums milk today so we are back up there soon to see if it's a success.

We had a really good stare today. He's looking like his Mum, lucky fella!
